Over the past few years the world has gone crazy over the iPhone. It’s the latest “must have accessory.” It wouldn’t at all surprise me if the younger generation sign up to a contract for an iPhone simply to keep up with friends and avoid being left behind.

I’ve never been too interested in phones and the iPhone is no exception. All I want from a phone is to make phone calls and a £30 phone can do that just as well as an iPhone. If I want to take pictures I’ll get a camera. If I want to play games I’ll get an Xbox. This is why expensive phones are of no interest to me.

That’s my rant over with though, now let’s look at playing roulette on an iPhone for those that may be interested. A lot of online casinos have what I believe is called an “app” that you can download.

This will enable you to play the games for real money any time you want. I have to be honest, I’m really not a fan of this at all and here’s why.

It leads back to what I said at the top, if I want to play games I will get an Xbox. If I want to play roulette, I will just go and play online roulette, playing on an iPhone has no advantage over a regular online game other that you can play on demand no matter where you are.

This is my biggest concern; it will only fuel the need of a compulsive gambler further. Games like roulette are fun and a lot of people just enjoy them for what they are, but some people get addicted and take things too far.

Now with the possibility of playing roulette on an iPhone, the compulsive gambler now has gambling on demand no matter where they are, whether it’s school or work.

In the past, time at work was time away from gambling but now the iPhone means that even work time can be spent gambling when the boss isn’t looking.

My philosophy is that roulette and other games like blackjack and slots are great when played in moderation, but dangerous when played excessively. Much like many other things in life.

There’s plenty of time to play games like roulette when you’re at home, there’s no real need to have it on an iPhone as well. Maybe this is just me being cynical because the iPhone is something that doesn’t interest me.
