Online Gaming Is a Reality in New Jersey
New Jersey residents should be having a great time. Online gambling has finally shown up in their state, and that means regulated online gambling is now a Real Thing! It wasn’t an easy road. In order to even begin moving towards approval, there was a soft play period. This was the time for checking for a few major issues. Geo-location measures are in place to make sure that only New Jersey residents can take advantage of the online gaming opportunities.
The risk of some NJ residents not being able to play has been addressed, but the digital fence is there to stay — the risk, say authorities, is just too high for words. It’s going to actually make more sense to leave the “fence” up and focus on New Jersey gambling alone. There are also opportunities here, in spite of the limitations.
New Jersey residents aren’t going to have to go the casino. Through the power of the Internet, the casino is now being brought to them.
There are similar measures being pursued in nearby New York State, as well as Massachusetts. However, the proposals for Internet gambling in Mass. have been pushed back and rejected twice. Only time will tell if these measures will really go through.
The rise of online gambling isn’t a new thing — but traditionally, it’s a world limited to European gamblers only. American players have had to accept scraps and hope that things would change. Now that things are a little different, it will be interesting to see what other issues come to light.
Most of the US-heavy banks have rejected the opportunity to provide deposit options, while Visa and MasterCard have stepped up.
We’re pretty excited for our US players to finally start getting somewhat of a good online experience. There will most likely be some issues that need to be worked out in the future, but we’re pretty confident that officials will work it out. The six casinos that received approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement include Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Tropicana Casino and Resort, Caesars Atlantic City and Bally’s Atlantic City.
Only time will tell what all of this change will truly bring.
